With death metal legend Erik Rutan of Morbid Angel and Hate Eternal on board as producer and Superchunk's drummer Jon Wurster joining in, the band explores new frontiers and creates a unqiue, cohesive album full of energy .
John Darnielle describes the album as "filled with those moments from which we desperately try to escape: 'Reversals of fortune and faces at the window and sudden unexpected screams of triumph here and there. Possible exits from the long-locked basement. These sorts of moments.'"
